By the decision of the Regency Council in October 1918 the Supreme Command of the Polish Army was established, which included the General Staff. During its existence it was reformed several times, and was subordinate to the war area of the lands under the control of the Polish Army. It was dissolved on April 3, 1921, after the end of the Polish-Bolshevik war. In the same year, in its place, the War Council was established under the President of the Republic of Poland.
