The bonds were issued in 1920 and were intended to finance the Polish-Soviet war. Due to rising inflation in the 1920s, the loan failed to meet expectations, and the public lost confidence in Treasury debt securities.
The bond's graphic design is based on the appearance of the 1919 1,000-mark bill.
