Danziger Hypothekenbank AG(Gdański Bank Hipothekenbank SA) was founded in 1924 by a group of Danzig and German banks. The main purpose of establishing this bank was to consolidate German ownership in the Free City of Danzig. After the Third Reich occupied WMG, the bank changed its name to Landesbank und Girozentrale Danzig-Westpreußen in 1941.
Pledge letters issued by Danziger Hypothekenbank AG are relatively rare.
8% pledge letter for 50 pounds sterling = 1,250 Danzig guilders. Issued October 1, 1925, Series III, Letter D. A rare and interesting Danzig pledge letter, with a view of the Motlawa River and the Danzig Crane in the subprint. Highly recommended!
