Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: XF
Reference: Parchimowicz 115b, Chałupski 2.23.1.a. (R5)

A very rare variety minted with a deep punch.

It is highly probable that the first "standards" were struck with a deep punch, but due to technical difficulties in their production (wedging on the punch), the punches were changed to shallow ones.

In the "Specialized catalog of Polish coins of the 20th and 21st centuries." by Jerzy Chałupski, the variant struck with a deep punch has a certain degree of rarity at the R5 level with a mintage of up to 1,000 pieces. The author writes as follows for this item: "Today, 'Deep Banner' is one of the rarest coins of the Second Polish Republic. Some sources say that the mintage of this variant was only 200 copies, but this is not confirmed in official data. However, this mintage was minted with a polished stamp. In the auction catalogs of Fritz Rudolf Künker Münzenhandlung it is stated that 1,000 coins were minted with a deep stamp.

The offered copy has well-preserved details, without significant abrasions on the upper parts, but with traces of cleaning on both sides. Background with preserved clock gloss.

One of the rarest coins of the Second Polish Republic.
