Rare token of John Casimir, produced in Montpellier in 1669, on the occasion of the abdication of King John Casimir from the Polish throne in 1668.

Token minted just after John Casimir became abbot of Saint-Germain-des-Pres.


Obverse: bust of Louis XIV, right

LVDOVICVS MAGNVS REX, letter N below bust

Reverse: under the crown, hands in an embrace on the altar, in the field CASIM POL REX ABDIC / REG IN GAL EXCIP, in the margine HOSPITIVM-REGIBVS
