Very fine and rare Marcus Aurelius sestertius minted on the occasion of a congiarium - an occasional donation distributed among the people of ancient Rome. Apart from the Emperor himself, Commodus, the son and successor of Marcus Aurelius, appears on the reverse too, together with a personification of Liberalitas - the ruler's generosity.
