Rrare type of three ducats from the city of Thorn.
Variety with the inscription POLON in the king's title.
During the reign of King John II Casimir, the Thorn mint issued 3 ducats three times. The first issue was minted on the occasion of the king's coronation in 1649. The second one in 1655, but it was interrupted by the Swedish Deluge, which took Thornin December of the same year. After a three year occupation of the city, in December 1658, the city was regained, and on January 1, 1659, the king himself entered it in person. In the same year, the contract with the mintmaster Hans David Lauer was renewed, and the mint began minting 3 ducats again.
