Rare quinarius, issued at the end of the Roman Republic. It is the result of Mark Antony alliance with Lepidus shortly before their meeting with Octavian, in order to reach settlement and rule Rome as triumvirate. Presented coin was minted in Pre-Alpine Gaul, on the Italian side of the Alps. On May 30, 43 BC, Mark Antony and Lepidus declared that they would join forces. Both names appear on our quinarius and the declaration of their alliance also specifies the mintage date of this coin.
